CorePower Yoga Teacher Training Day Seventeen

CorePower Yoga Teacher Training day seventeen has come to an end and we only have seven more classes left to teach! This post should be rather quick as this was more of an informational and practice type of training! We discussed the optional (but recommended) extensions program, our assigned book, and practiced taught for an hour.

After you complete the 200 hours of training you become certified and can teach at any yoga studio. However, if you’d like to teach at CorePower Yoga they recommend completing their 50 hour extension program in order to audition. You can also take another continuing education course (50 hours in total) elsewhere, but they recommend taking theirs since you learn their structure. You also build relationships in the studio where you train and practice, so taking their program helps!

Will I be taking extensions? I’m actually trying to decide on that as we speak. We’re moving back to the suburbs soon and I won’t have access to a nearby studio. I’m considering just staying with friends for the weekday training, but we’ll see! The classes are the same days and times as my current training, so it wouldn’t be too much of a schedule adjustment. I’m considering trying to teach elsewhere first and then possible an extensions program when/if we move closer to a CorePower Yoga in the future.

After we discussed extensions we moved right into practice teaching with our OMies. We each had 30 minutes to teach one another, so I covered the first part of the sequence and my OMie covered the triangle series through the end of the C1 sequence. I feel much more comfortable than I did the first day, and everything is truly beginning to set in. I’m finding my own voice and feel confident. Don’t be too hard on yourself!

We discussed the book we were assigned near the end of class, but this turned into story time and I’m totally ok with that! We were assigned The Inner Tradition of Yoga book by Michael Stone. Michael Stone is no longer with us on this earth, but his book as left an impact on many people. The book is a little difficult to read and break apart based on his dialogue, but he makes a few good points. We discussed the idea of our unconscious thoughts, judging, following our hearts, and a few others.

Class tonight felt like it was 30 minutes long, not 3 hours. I’m going to miss this so much!

I am PASSIONATE to learn, grow, and share with the world around me.
