Day twenty one of CorePower Yoga Teacher Training was spent practicing another round robin with both music and lighting. I swear these get more and more fun as we practice more often! The goal of today was to take what we learned from Thursday’s public class and apply them to our section taught.
When we walked into the studio, our teacher asked us which parts we haven’t practiced yet in order to assign us a new section. I ended up taking on the crescent lunge section which comes right after core series. Based on Thursday’s feedback, I tried my best to smile and have a little fun while teaching. This was the first time I really taught without thinking about what comes next in the sequence. Often times we rush through one posture and cues because we’re so focused about what comes next, so this definitely helped.
Once we got finished we discussed feedback (glows & grows) again. The feedback gets better and better each time because we’ve been diving into the knit picky feedback lately to help us improve. Good news is that I finally smiled during my section! I was told my cues were good due to the fact that I switch them up instead of repeating over and over; however, I forgot the big body cue for side plank. I did multiple assists (ones I’ve never practiced during an actual class), and I think I did well. I did forget to stay with a student until the end of the assist so that’s something I’ll remember to do for next time. Speaking of next time! We only have two more training sessions left and Thursday is our final teaching and written exam! We’ll be teaching our Omies the full C1 sequence this Thursday and our teachers will be stopping by to see how we’re doing.
Only one actual lecture left of class! If you have any questions about Teacher Training please do not hesitate to reach out to my email or leave a commend below.
I am PASSIONATE to learn, grow, and share with the world around me.
