It’s ‘poppin over here people! Stove top popcorn is one of my favorite snacks because it’s so light and I never feel bad when I’m 10 bowls deep whoops. My mom and cousins would always make popcorn on the stove when I was little and it was (and still is) SO much better than the shelf store bought popcorn. It’s also 10x better for you. The bags you buy at the store are filled with chemicals and preservatives. Since this snack is so simple to make, I highly recommend you switch over to ‘poppin (cracking myself up over here) it yourself.
You can pop the kernels on the stove or in a brown bag in the microwave. I used to use the microwave technique in my dorm at college and everyone would start making popcorn because I’d make the whole floor smell like a movie theater. Toss out the shelf bought popcorn a purchase a container of kernels! You’re more than welcome to top this with different ingredients if Garlic Parmesan isn’t your thing.
A stove top popcorn that's more dense and lacks all the preservatives!
- 1/4 cup Popcorn Kernels
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Salt
- 3 Tbsp Parmesan grated (powder like-dry)
Heat the oil in a large sauce pan over medium-high heat.
Add the kernels to the pot and cover.
Make sure to move the pan around so the kernels do not burn.
Shake the pot over heat as the kernels begin to pop.
Remove from heat as soon as the popcorn stops popping within 4 seconds of one another and pour into bowl.
Spray with olive oil (I have a little spritzer bottle) and add more salt and Parmesan if needed.
