A sweet and salty apple toast is just what I needed this morning. I typically skip breakfast during the week because I’ve been intermittent fasting for the past year or so (fasting window of 16 hours and eating window of 8 hours – also referred as 16:8); however, my cravings took control this morning!
Fasting isn’t considered a diet to me but rather a lifestyle. I typically start eating around 11 and stop no later than 6pm or 7pm. Now I can wake up, workout, get ready, and head right out the door where before I had to cook breakfast, clean up, and sprint out the door. I save so much time in the morning and I never feel rushed – which takes away unnecessary stress (also helps my heartburn a little). Of course there are days when we have an event that interferes with fasting hours, but I don’t let that ruin my day if I have to break it early. There’s nothing worse than being with someone on a diet and listening to them talk about it all day. Treat yourself and don’t let a diet kill your social life!
Wait, why are we here again? Oh yes, the recipe!! A honey crisp apple and crunchy organic peanut butter are two food items that are always a part of my work day. One day I ran out of peanut butter and I had half a jar of Tahini in my cabinet – life saver! I cut the apple into slices (with this slicer because it’s a time saver) and drizzled Tahini over the top. OMG, never thought of this before until I used Tahini in these chocolate chip cookies. I’m so glad I thought to use the rest of the Tahini because this is now one of my favorite toasts!
Let’s toast to this recipe!

A golden brown whole grain toast topped with Tahini, apples, honey, and chia seeds.
- 1 Slice Whole Grain Bread
- 1 Tbsp Tahini
- 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter
- 1/2 tsp honey to mix with tahini
- 4-5 Apple Slices sliced thin
- 1/2 tsp Honey + Drizzle of Honey for garnishing
- 1 tsp Chia Seeds
-
Toast the bread until golden brown. I like my toast a little more on the crispy side!
-
Mix together the Tahini, Peanut Butter, and 1/2 tsp of honey.
-
Remove toast from toaster/toaster oven and spread the honey tahini mixture on top.
-
Add the THINLY sliced apple slices to a small skillet pan and cook the apple slices for a few minutes over low-medium heat until warm. You can also just add the raw slices to the bread if you prefer room temp/cold.
-
Place the apples on top of the tahini toast and drizzle with honey and chia seeds.
